Base44 is the other tool that takes a complete beginner seriously. You describe the app and it generates the frontend, database schema, authentication and deployment — everything managed inside one platform, with no separate Supabase or hosting bill to assemble. Backed by Wix since 2025, it has real engineering weight behind it.

That all-in-one design is its biggest strength and its main trade-off. Because the backend is managed for you, simple apps can be cheaper in total than tools that make you wire up infrastructure. But the backend doesn't export — GitHub export on higher tiers covers only the frontend — so leaving Base44 later means rebuilding the backend.

It's the fastest, most non-technical-friendly way to ship an internal tool or MVP. Just know that, like every credit tool here, message and integration credits can disappear quickly during active development, and a 2026 platform outage is a reminder that a managed backend is a dependency.

Key features

Pros & cons

Strengths

  • Extremely beginner-friendly prompt-to-app
  • Backend, database, auth and hosting all included
  • Wix-backed stability and resources
  • Generous forever-free tier to evaluate
  • Native integrations (Stripe, Slack, Google, SendGrid, AI models)

Trade-offs

  • Backend doesn't export — frontend-only GitHub export
  • Platform lock-in (a managed-backend dependency)
  • Credits can deplete fast on active AI-heavy apps
  • Limited SEO control for public-facing pages

Base44 pricing (2026)

Dual credits: message credits for building, integration credits for running your live app's AI calls, emails, uploads, etc.

PlanPriceWhat you get
Free$025 message + 100 integration credits, unlimited apps
Starter$20/mo$16/mo annual · 100 message credits, private apps
Builder$50/mo$40/mo annual · custom domains, GitHub (frontend), backend functions
Pro$100/mo$80/mo annual · double Builder credits, small teams
Elite$200/mo$160/mo annual · heavy commercial use, priority support

Prices billed monthly unless noted; annual billing usually saves ~20%. Verify current pricing on Base44's site — plans change often.

Verdict

Base44: best all-in-one

Base44 is the best all-in-one: the fastest path from prompt to a deployed app with backend included, and a real rival to Lovable for non-coders. The catch is platform lock-in — the managed backend doesn't export — so weigh portability before you commit a production app to it.

Base44 FAQ

Is Base44 owned by Wix?
Yes. Wix acquired Base44 in 2025 for around $80M and integrated it into its product line. The platform has 400,000+ users and is backed by Wix's infrastructure.
Can I export my app from Base44?
Partially. GitHub export covers the frontend on Builder and above, but the backend — database, API logic and authentication — stays on Base44's infrastructure and does not export.
What's the difference between message and integration credits?
Message credits are spent while you build (each prompt). Integration credits are spent when your live app takes actions like calling an LLM, sending email, or uploading files.
Which Base44 plan should I start with?
Free to evaluate, Starter for steady solo building, and Builder ($40/mo annual) once you need a custom domain, frontend export or backend functions.
